ProtoTeams

Team dating, or small-group interactions, can expose people to diverse perspectives and inform the potential for longer-term collaboration. However, rapidly configuring groups facilitating interactions among strangers be difficult, especially in co-located settings. We present ProtoTeams, a system that leverages personal mobile devices support rapid group formation, facilitate activities, collect data about future report on field study where 406 students eight different project-based classes used ProtoTeams interact with classmates through multiple rounds of brief discussion activities before selecting teammates term project. found enables form one minute, allows meaningful range peers, significantly influence subsequent teammate selection. discuss design implications challenges in-person team dating classrooms other contexts.
